General

  • Site wide access control is based upon role based access controls. Users can have multiple roles, and their permissions will be cumulative. Fine grained policy based access controls are on the development roadmap.
  • Current roles:
    1. Anonymous user (no account)
    2. Authenticated user (with account)
    3. Publication creator - can create a new publication
    4. Publication manager - can view, edit, delete any publication in any state (draft, review, published, archived)
    5. Editor - can review and publish publications
    6. App creator - can create a new app
    7. App manager - can view, edit, delete any app
    8. System creator - can create a new system
    9. System manager - can view, edit, delete any system
    10. Site manager - can create web pages and has additional privileges to manage the site
    11. Administrator (Has all site wide privileges)
  • Only the administrator can view and set users roles

All of the following tasks require Administrator role

See all users roles

  • Click on "People"  (top, right of center)

Change a user's role(s)

  1. “People”
  2. Find the user in the table
  3. Click on “Edit” (last column)
  4. Goto “Roles” section (about half way)
  5. Check/uncheck as desired and click on “Save” at the bottom

Create a new role

  1. “People” -> “Roles” -> “Add role”
  2. Add the role’s name
  3. “Save”

Edit a role's name

  1. “People” -> “Roles”
  2. Find the role in the table -> “Edit”
  3. Make your change
  4. “Save”

See/edit a single role’s permissions

  1. “People” -> “Roles”
  2. Find the role in the table
  3. In the “Operations” column dropdown menu, choose “Edit permissions”
  4. If desired, make changes and click “Save” at the bottom

See/edit all roles’ permissions

  1. “People” -> “Permissions"
  2. If desired, make changes and click “Save” at the bottom
